Understanding the Root Causes of Health Concerns
In many cases, symptoms such as digestive problems, fatigue, behavioural changes, hormonal imbalance, or immune issues can be linked to underlying imbalances that may not always appear on routine medical tests.
These tests can provide valuable information that helps guide personalised nutrition and lifestyle strategies, allowing support plans to be tailored to the individual.
Functional laboratory testing allows us to look more deeply at areas such as gut health, nutrient status, metabolism, toxins, and biochemical pathways that may influence overall health and wellbeing.
Functional testing is always used when appropriate and helpful, and it is not required for every client. In some cases, testing can help identify factors that may otherwise be overlooked.
Where necessary, I may also recommend that clients consult their GP for standard medical testing such as full blood counts, iron levels, thyroid function, and other routine investigations.
Comprehensive Testing Options
Functional Testing Available
I work with children and young people experiencing a range of complex health conditions including:
Functional testing can be particularly helpful when working with children experiencing complex health conditions, digestive issues, allergies, or developmental challenges. Testing can provide insights into areas such as nutrient status, gut health, metabolic function, and environmental exposures that may influence a child's wellbeing.
Organic Acids Test (OAT)
This urine-based test provides insight into:
- Gut microbial balance (bacteria and yeast)
- Nutrient deficiencies
- Mitochondrial function and energy production
- Oxidative stress
- Neurotransmitter metabolism
- Detoxification pathways
Comprehensive Stool Analysis
- Beneficial and pathogenic bacteria
- Yeast or parasite overgrowth
- Digestive enzyme function
- Inflammation within the digestive tract
- Gut immune activity
Hair Mineral Analysis
- Mineral imbalances
- Heavy metal exposure
- Patterns affecting metabolic balance
Hair Mineral Analysis
- Identify potential food triggers affecting health
Omega-3 Fatty Acid Testing
- Measures omega-3 and omega-6 balance
- Supports brain and immune health
Hair Mineral Analysis
- Investigates underlying infection-related causes
Methylation and Nutrigenomics Profile
- Genetic insights into nutrient metabolism and detox pathways
Functional testing for adults focuses on identifying underlying factors that may contribute to digestive problems, hormonal imbalance, fatigue, metabolic issues, or chronic health symptoms. Testing may explore areas such as gut health, toxin exposure, hormone balance, and nutrient metabolism.
